Indianapolis resident arrested on OWI, neglect of dependent charges

An Indianapolis man was arrested Sunday evening after police said he was intoxicated while driving with his daughter in the car.

Thomas Blair, 49, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a previous conviction, neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement.

Blair had driven his 10-year-old daughter to her mother’s house to pick up some shoes around 10 p.m. Sunday. The daughter was crying and told her mother that her father had been driving erratically and acting strangely, the inside of the car smelled like alcohol and there was alcohol in the vehicle, a Greenwood Police Department report said. The mother called police.

Blair initially declined to be tested, and when officers tried to handcuff him he tried to reach back into the car. Blair’s blood alcohol content was .12 percent, the report said.

Blair, 860 Yosemite Drive, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail and was released on $3,000 bond.
