Grizzly Cubs defeat Woodmen
Logen Devenport was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs in Franklin’s 8-1 win at Greenwood on Tuesday. Winning pitcher Max Clark struck out 15 for the Grizzly Cubs (16-5, 9-2 Mid-State) while scoring two runs and driving in two at the plate. Drew Doty had a pair of RBIs and Jace Fowler scored twice.
Trojans fall at Carmel
A bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Class 4A No. 2 Carmel past No. 3 Center Grove, 4-3, in a battle of MIC leaders. The two teams will play again today, with the winner all but assured of the league title.
Lancers get first victory
Edinburgh broke into the win column with a 14-1 rout of Crothersville in five innings. Riley Palmeter, Ian Buchanan, Landen Burton and Noah Detling each drove in two runs for the Lancers (1-11), while Detling pitched a two-hitter and struck out 12.
Warriors fall to Falcons
Perry Meridian used a five-run fifth inning to surge past Whiteland, 5-3. Drew Helton had three of the four hits for the Warriors (5-10, 3-7 Mid-State) and Quinn Warweg drove in a pair of runs.
Royals earn league title
Winning pitcher Ryan Henry singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and Roncalli clinched the Circle City championship with a 4-2 win at Guerin Catholic. Johnny Roeder doubled twice and scored twice for the Royals.

Woodmen edge Grizzly Cubs
Kiley Hankenhoff doubled twice and knocked in a pair of runs and Greenwood took advantage of nine walks to pull out a 6-4 home win over Franklin on Tuesday. Courtney Hankenhoff was the winning pitcher for the Woodmen (6-13, 3-8 Mid-State), while Maddie Hedges went 4 for 4 in defeat for the Grizzly Cubs (11-8, 6-5).
Whiteland hammers Perry
Jordan Smith brought in five runs on two triples and a homer to lead the hit parade in Whiteland’s 22-1 shellacking of Perry Meridian. Halle Nett also hit a home run for the Warriors (11-7, 7-4 Mid-State) and Macy Cornelius had two RBIs in support of winning pitcher Debbie Hill, who yielded just three hits.
Royals blank Golden Bears
Keagan Rothrock struck out 14 and helped her own cause with two RBIs as Class 4A No. 4 Roncalli shut out No. 7 Shelbyville, 4-0.
Track and field
Warriors, Woodmen compete in Bloomington
Whiteland and Greenwood took part in the Bloomington North Invitational on Tuesday.
The Warriors got school-record performances from Will Jefferson in the boys 1,600 meters (4:10.17) and Tori Jackson in the girls 800 (2:20.31) along with wins on the boys side from Matthew Wray (200), Tristan Thomas (long jump), Dalton Hughes (shot put) and Tayton Schakel (discus) and girls victories from Gabi Allen (100), Bella Jackson (high jump) and Drew Mallory (shot put).
Tanner Allen was first in the boys 100 meters for the Woodmen.
Girls tennis
Braves ground Jets
Indian Creek coasted to a 5-0 win over Hauser, with Lauren Foster, Zoe Rayback and Lauren Lewis sweeping the singles points. The Braves (8-6) also got wins from the No. 1 doubles team of Emilee Scott and Olivia Perry and the No. 2 tandem of Avery Burress and Addy Tunell.
Lancers top Yellow Jackets
Edinburgh defeated Morristown, 4-1. Bethany Burton and Jessica Walsh won at second and third singles, Alyssa Funkhouser and Peyton Bryant coasted at first doubles and the team of Zoey Sida and Gracie Myers pulled out a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles.
Trojans shut out Panthers
Center Grove didn’t drop a set in beating Bloomington South, 5-0. Ashlee Fisk, Sonya Vyas and Deepthi Shankar won the singles points for the No. 7 Trojans, Sydney Plowman and Sapna Vyas got the victory at No. 1 doubles and Lauren Dick and Hudson Gilstorf were winners at second doubles.
Woodmen come up empty
Greenwood suffered a 5-0 home loss to Bloomington North, dropping its overall record to 4-6 on the season.
Roncalli handles Flashes
Roncalli posted a 4-1 win over Franklin Central. Claire Wagner, Rebecca Zakrowski and Lili Wisler were all singles winners for the Royals, while Elsie Kerr and Katrina Gangstad were triumphant at second doubles.
Boys golf
Warriors fall to Quakers
Whiteland lost against Plainfield, 174-188, at Deer Creek despite a 39 from Will Davis and a 43 from Garrett Butler.
