Baseball splits first two

On a four-game road trip to Winter Haven, Florida, the Franklin baseball team rebounded from a season-opening loss with a 5-4 triumph over Waynesburg University on Sunday afternoon.

Down 4-1 after seven innings, the Grizzlies (1-1) tied the game with a three-run eighth, a rally capped by a steal of home from Frank Podkul.

Sophomore Jordan Clark drove in the winning run in the ninth, singling to plate Tommy Waites.

On Saturday, Franklin dropped its opener against Otterbein University, 16-0.

Track teams compete at Anderson

The Franklin men’s and women’s track teams were in action at Anderson University Saturday in the Fred Wilt Invitational.

Freshman Tyler Doty was the top finisher on either side for the Grizzlies, taking third in the high jump at 1.80 meters.

Freshman diver concludes season

Tyler Keener, a Franklin College freshman who recently swept the 1- and 3-meter diving titles at the NCAA Liberal Arts championships, finished 23rd on the 1-meter board Saturday in the NCAA Division III diving championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Keener posted a score of 375.60.
