The need for speed: IHSAA boys swimming and diving state finals

Several of Johnson County’s best swimmers and divers had impressive showings at last weekend’s Franklin Sectional.

This weekend, they’ll find out how they measure up against the rest of the state — and the bar, in many cases, is pretty high.

Indiana traditionally has one of the faster state meets in America, and that should again be the case this year with a few nationally-ranked prospects in the field.

Carmel junior Drew Kibler, in particular, is a name to watch. He’s heavily favored to win the 100- and 200-yard freestyle, with state records likely to fall in the process. Another Greyhound, freshman Wyatt Davis, is expected to contend for titles in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
