Arthur Reid Shaw

INDIANAPOLIS

Arthur Reid Shaw, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017.

He was born Oct. 7, 1936, to Joe and Olive Ruth (Denton) Shaw in Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Retz) Shaw; sons Thomas (Angela Gregory) Shaw, Arthur Andrew “Andy” (Rachel Finster) Shaw and Brandon (Robin Wilson) Shaw; daughters, Marci Morris, Tammy (Chris) Hubbard and Michelle “Misti” (Allen) Jones; grandchildren, Lindsey, Amanda, Ashleigh, Garrett, Kelsey, Cameron, Aiden, Maddie, Rilee, Keegan, Paige, Sarah, Halie, Ava and Jessica. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Grace Retz; sister-in-law, Anna Mae (Yetter) Shaw; and many other sisters- and brothers-in-law; and several nephews and nieces.

Art graduated from Washington High School and the University of Indianapolis, where he enjoyed playing football and involvement in other activities.

He taught and coached at several Indiana high schools, including Greensburg and Avon. He later worked at several area hospitals as director/manager of patient accounts. He also worked at Anthem for several years in provider relations and management in government contracts departments.

He loved coaching children in several sports –- soccer, basketball, football and baseball. He also played and coached softball for many years.

Family was Art’s lifeblood, and he was always the center of activity at family gatherings.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson-St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Tom Bridges will officiate.
