Grant available for future music majors

Johnson County high school graduating seniors who intend to pursue a music career may be eligible for a scholarship from a local music advocacy group.Matinee Musicale is offering a $600 scholarship. Students must be planning to attend an accredited college or university.

Sheriff’s Association offering scholarships

The Indiana Sheriffs Association will award college scholarships to qualified high school seniors or college students who are pursuing a degree in criminal justice studies.Forty $500 scholarships will be awarded to qualifying students throughout the state.

Every applicant must be an Indiana resident, a current member of the association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association, attend an Indiana college or university, major in a law enforcement field and be enrolled as a full-time student.

Applications are available from high school counselors, the Johnson County Sheriffs Office or by writing to the Indiana Sheriffs Association, 147 E. Maryland St., Indianapolis.

The scholarship application can also be downloaded from the Indiana Sheriffs Association website at indiaiia.sheriffs.org. The applications must be received by April 1.

Lion’s Club to award $2,000 college grant

Franklin Community High School seniors can apply for a $2,000 grant to be used for college tuition and books. The deadline for the Franklin Lions Club Lloyd Hensley Community Service Grant is April 20.Application and other materials are available from the school’s guidance office.

Students who have at least a 3.0 grade-point average and who are actively involved in community service will be considered.

Money will be given in two parts, with $1,000 given at the end of the school year. Another $1,000 will be given if the students keeps a 3.0 grade point average after a semester of college.

Scholarship available for Franklin students

Graduating Franklin Community High School seniors can apply for a locally-funded scholarship.The Gilmore Scholarship Trust will award up to $2,000 per year for four years to graduating seniors going to Indiana colleges and universities full-time, with preference given to those attending Franklin College.

Application information is available in the school’s guidance office. Deadline for submission is March 31.

Simon offering $1,500 to youth

Any senior student who lives near Edinburgh Premium Outlets or Greenwood Park Mall, both Simon properties, can apply for a scholarship.Students can apply online by visiting syf.org/scholarships.

Recipients will receive up to $1,500 to enroll in an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school. The deadline is March 1.
