Mary Jena Woessner

Mary Jena Woessner, 85, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 16, 2017, at Community Hospital South.

Jena was born Sunday, July 19, 1931, in Franklin to Ralph Gordon Steinbarger and Twanetta Irene Weddle Steinbarger. On Dec. 31, 1954, she married the love of her life, William Woessner who preceded her in death in 2015. Jena worked for a brief time as a switchboard operator at the Atterbury National Guard Base but spent most of her life taking care of her family as a homemaker. Jena also was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church.

Survivors include her two daughters, Tonya J. Whitaker (Rick) of Greenwood and Teresa D. Dawalt (Joe) of Greenwood; two sisters, Joan Privett (Jack) of Franklin and Josephine Harrel; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jena was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William; one son, Thomas Woessner; a brother, William Steinbarger; sister-in-law, Margie Steinbarger and brother-in-law, Gene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 West Main St., Greenwood. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
