To the editor:
On Feb. 9, you reported the status of a public reprimand recommendation against Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper because he opined that granting clemency to Michael Dean Overstreet, who was convicted of rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl, was an outrageous injustice by a St. Joseph Superior Court judge.
On the same date, an article appeared on President Donald Trump’s appeal of the order by a Washington State District Court judge to prevent enforcement of his executive order creating a travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim countries. The article notes the president’s Twitter statements where he says “The opinion of this so-called Judge … is ridiculous…”
Hmmmm the similarity is too striking to be ignored.
The people of Johnson County are well-served by Brad Cooper.
