MARTINSVILLE
Allen Steve Knight, 68, of Martinsville, passed away Feb. 8, 2017, at his home in Martinsville.
He was born June 17, 1948, to his parents, Harold and Marjorie L. (Blaydes) Knight.
He worked as a railroad engineer for Conrail and CSX Transportation, for 40 years, retiring in 2008.
Mr. Knight served his country in the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Libby (Anderson) Knight of Martinsville; his children, Matt (Julie) Knight of Morgantown and Andrew (Kellie) Knight of Martinsville; his mother, Marjorie L. (Blaydes) Knight of Greenwood; a sister, Patricia (Dave) Cress of Indianapolis, three brothers, Michael (Carolyn) Knight of Greenwood, Jeff Knight of Trafalgar and Ricky (Debby) Knight of Morgantown; and five grandchildren, Max, Luke, Logan, Connor and Kaylee Knight.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Knight.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Johnson County Armory, 325 Minuteman Way, Franklin. This event will be a casual occasion of remembrance.
