Police make arrests, citations at party

Six people were arrested and 20 juveniles were cited after police were called to an underage drinking party at a Greenwood home this weekend.

About 1 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a home in 1300 block of Tuscany Drive, in the Tuscany Village neighborhood near Apryl Drive and Honey Creek Road.

When police arrived and knocked on the door, they could see teens inside the home start running upstairs and downstairs, according to the Greenwood Police Department report.

Officers outside saw multiple teens run from the home and were able to stop some of them, the report said.

A teen who answered the door said the homeowner was out of town, the report said.

Once inside, police found 43 teens both upstairs and downstairs in the home and began testing them for consuming alcohol, the report said. Officers also could smell marijuana and found a table set up downstairs with cups of liquid, the report said.

Officers cited 20 juveniles on charges for underage drinking and sent them home with their parents. Five adults, ages 18 and 19, were arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, Greenwood Assistant Police Chief Matt Fillenwarth said.

The rest, who did not test positive for alcohol, were sent home, Fillenwarth said.

Police also arrested 18-year-old Christian Coffey, 2944 Corbin Drive, Indianapolis, on a charge of dealing marijuana after officers found marijuana, scales and more than $1,000 cash in his backpack. Coffey and two juveniles were caught running from the home when police arrived, the report said.

Also arrested on charges of possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor were:

Erick Flores, 18, 266 Hoss Road, Indianapolis.

Hannah Kersey, 19, 1324 Tuscany Drive, Greenwood.

Tanaka Tawonzi, 18, 5519 Rue Royale, Indianapolis.

Domanic J. Silcott, 18, 2849 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.

Julian K. Bannie, 18, 144 Thompson Village Trail, Apt. G, Indianapolis.

All were taken to the Johnson County jail and released on $1,000 bond.

Police don’t know where the teens got the alcohol, Fillenwarth said.
