YMCA director touted for leadership

The Greenwood Woodman Toastmasters Club presented John Schwentker, director of the Baxter YMCA the Excellence in Leadership Award.The award recognizes individuals in the community who lead and inspire others through integrity and service, according to a statement.

Schewentker was recognized for his positive impact on organizational leadership.

He has been the Director of the Baxter YMCA since early 2015. He has over 20 years of experience with the YMCA.

The local Toastmasters club meets 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Baxter YMCA, 7900 Shelby St., Indianapolis.

Greenwood Moving earns service award

Greenwood Moving & Storage, Inc. has earned the home service industry’s Angie’s List Super Service Award, which recognizes an exemplary year of customer service to members of the local services marketplace and consumer review site in 2016.Angie’s List Super Service Award 2016 winners have met eligibility requirements, which include an “A” rating in overall grade, recent grade and review period grade.

Service company ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List as new, verified consumer reviews are submitted. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality.

Indy library wins financial award

The Indianapolis Public Library has received the highest recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.The Library has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The certificate represents a significant accomplishment by a governmental unit and its management, according to a statement by the library.

Members of The Indianapolis Public Library’s accounting staff include Mike Hollandbeck, Miguel Ruiz, Beech Grove resident Robin Wood-Gebhart, Ron Seats, Greenwood resident Carolyn Adams, Greenwood resident Steve Manier and Beech Grove resident Kendra Checkoff.
