Police find 2 guns in juvenile’s bag; 1 stolen

Franklin police found two guns in the backpack of a teenager, and at least one was reported stolen from a neighborhood north of downtown.

Just after 2 a.m. Monday, police were called to the 700 block of Graham Road about a teen who was walking around, knocking on doors. The 16-year-old told police he was looking for his aunt’s home, but police could not find a resident that matched the name he gave, the report said.

Police also were not able to reach the teen’s mother in Bargersville. Officers decided to take the teen to the juvenile detention center since he was out after curfew.

When police searched the teen’s backpack, they found two guns, bullets, a wallet that did not belong to him and cigarettes, the report said.

One of the guns was reported stolen from a home in the 900 block of Graham Street later that morning, according to the police report.
