Nora Elizabeth Wheeler

Nora Elizabeth Wheeler, 89, of Franklin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017.

Nora was born June 15, 1927, to George B. and Lela Belle Nelson in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was raised most of her life in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Nora met her husband, Kenneth G. Wheeler, while he was stationed in the U.S. Army at Fort Collins, Colorado. They were married April 12, 1953 in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

In 1954, Nora became a registered x-ray technician and worked for Dr. Beeler in Indianapolis for several years. She later worked with her husband’s business, Cardinal Insurance, until retiring in 1991.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Fletcher of Indianapolis, her sons, Kevin Wheeler (Sheri) of Greenwood and Kurt Wheeler (Melissa) of Fishers; her grandchildren, Kyle and Clayton Fletcher, Ben and Brian Wheeler and Jackson Wheeler; and one brother, Loyd B. Nelson (Billie).

Nora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth on Dec. 10, 2015; and her sisters, Ann Marie Cofflet (John) and Martha Jean Krone (Wayne).

Visitation for Mrs. Wheeler will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood, Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the Wheeler family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
