Joseph Patrick “Pat” Fujawa

Joseph Patrick “Pat” Fujawa passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, after a brief illness, surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1958, to Joseph and Patricia Fujawa in Mishawaka.

He is survived by his beloved family: wife, Ellen Kuszmaul Fujawa; and children, Edward Jonathon Joseph (Ashlee) Fujawa and Jennifer Meredith (Joel) Asbury.

Pat graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1980; the University of Chicago with an Master of Arts in public policy studies in 1982; and Valparaiso University School of Law in 1985 with a JD.

After law school, Pat served as an active duty judge advocate (JAG) at Fort Sheridan, Illinois where his specialty was federal contract law. He then subsequently held positions in federal contract law and export control compliance at Allison Transmission, Ingersoll Rand, Schneider Electric, TRW and most recently at Raytheon.

Pat was a devoted family man who faithfully attended his children’s athletic and academic endeavors over the years.

He had a keen sense of humor and would crack up co-workers and family with his quips. He was held in high esteem by his professional colleagues for his work ethic and convivial personality.

Pat enjoyed traveling the world, from Cape Horn and the Falkland Islands to London and Bratislava. He also enjoyed live theater, grilling, target shooting and playing classical guitar.

He was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Church, where he participated in the Latin Mass every Sunday.

Pat Fujawa had a life well-lived and will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crown Hill Funeral Home. Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
