William J. “Bill” Cutshaw

Rev. William J. “Bill” Cutshaw, age 84, of Franklin, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017.

Bill was born May 25, 1932, in Indianapolis to William C. and Verna G. (Slifer) Cutshaw. He graduated from Tech High School with the Class of 1951; University of Indianapolis in 1954; and Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1957. He was a pastor for the Indiana United Methodist Conference from 1953 to 2010 at Sardinia, Teegarden, Gwyneville, Redkey, Dunkirk-Bethel, Logansport Third St., Hartford City Trinity, Ft. Wayne Calvary and Otterbein United Methodist Visitation Pastor.

He served as director of Junior Camping, Conference Board of Trustees, Conference Commission on Camps and Conferences, Board of Discipleship, Coordinator of New Life Missions and Key Events, Conference Assistant Secretary and President of Men’s Club FUMC. He was an avid Colts, Pacers, Purdue and Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He also loved to golf and bowl.

Bill married the former Helen L. Barkes on June 19, 1955, in Columbus and she survives him along with sons, David J. (Debbie) Cutshaw of Carmel, Daniel R. (Lisa) Cutshaw of Indianapolis and Mark C. (Shannon) Cutshaw of Pearland, Texas; daughter, Gloria E. Liebig of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one great grandson on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wright Chapel of Franklin United Methodist Community. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franklin United Methodist Community, Otterbein United Methodist Church or Grace United Methodist Church.
