MORGANTOWN
Dorthea Marie “Jackie” (Lewis) Gentry, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at her home in Morgantown.
Dorthea was born April 20, 1936, in Indianapolis, to the late Frank M. and Mildred P. (Beech) Lewis. She married Harry A. Gentry Sr. on Sept. 25, 1954, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2014, after 59 loving years of marriage.
Dorthea was a loving mother and housewife. She was a member of the Morgantown Gospel Lighthouse Church, enjoyed bird and squirrel watching and spending time with her family.
Dorthea will be missed by her children, Christena Gentry and Mark (Holly) Gentry, both of Morgantown, and Harry (Wanda) Gentry Jr. of Franklin; six grandchildren, Norman Fox, Raylee Fox, both of Worthington, Joseph Gentry of Franklin, Jeffrey Thomas of Rockville, Amber Thomas of Martinsville, and Rusty Gentry of Florida; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings Helen Case of Plainfield, Pearl Morrel of Lebanon, Bill Lewis of Morgantown and Bennie Lewis of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; and daughters, Luelenn Marie Gentry and Sharon Kay Fox.
The Rev. Mike Wagner will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Morgantown Gospel Lighthouse Church, 340 Hoosier Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service Feb. 4 at the church. A meal will follow the service and all are welcome to attend. Cremation services have been entrusted with Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
