Multiple thefts from vehicles reported

Guns, wallets and sunglasses were stolen from multiple vehicles in the Center Grove area overnight Thursday.

By Friday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies had taken at least eight reports, and suspected more residents might come forward. They were asking residents to check their vehicles for any signs anyone went through them.

The thefts happened along Stones Crossing and Saddle Club roads and in the Woodland Streams neighborhood.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office began getting reports shortly after 6 a.m. that residents had woken up to find their vehicles ransacked and, in some cases, their windows shattered, according to the sheriff’s office reports.

At one home in the 3500 block of Stones Crossing Road, three vehicles were gone through and a gun was stolen. A gun also was stolen from a vehicle along Cedar Hills Drive, the report said.

Another two vehicles were broken into along Woodland Streams Drive, where a wallet and sunglasses were stolen, the report said. And a resident found a purse in her yard on Cedar Lane that had been stolen from a car parked at a neighboring home.
