Jack Phillip Martin Jr., 54, of Whiteland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, in Whiteland.

He was born Nov. 26, 1962, in Beech Grove, to his parents Jack Sr. and Janie (Hansen) Martin. Jack graduated from Brown County High School in 1981. He married Margaret Williams on Dec. 8, 1993; they were happily married for 23 years.

He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army. Jack owned his own heating and cooling companies, for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones; they were his world. He loved his grandchildren, and he was known as “Papaw Jack.” He also enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking and baking, sports, camping, everything trivia and was a computer solitaire champion.

Jack is survived by his wife, Margaret Martin of Whiteland; his children, Jacquelyn “Nikki” (Matt Breen) Martin, Tiffany (Josh) Pfaffenberger, Paul (Debi Tingle) Martin, and Nathan (Amber) Gabehart all of Greenwood; his father, Jack (Jamie Marlow) Martin Sr. of Florida; siblings, Maria (Tracy) Stein of Indianapolis, Joe (Nancy) Martin, and Chris (Stephanie) Martin, both of Greenwood, Jason (Misty) Owens of Martinsville, 14 grandchildren, Vanessa, Christian, Brayden, Dalton, Keagan, Maggie, Jackson, Jecht, Cory, Isabel, Kieran, Maverich, Liam, and Daxson, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janie Freeman, and a sister, April Kay Martin.

The Rev. Dan Smetzer will be conducting a Celebration of Life Service at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. Highway 31; with a visitation from 1 p.m., until the time of service.
