FRANKLIN
Loretta Jane Axe, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin since 1957.
Born on June 16, 1931 in Lyons, to Leighton and Lena (Hoover) Canada, Loretta married John William Axe on June 8, 1952 and preceded her in passing.
She is survived by one son, John Steven (Julie) Axe of Franklin; grandson, John Seth Axe of Franklin, granddaughters, Tess Leann Axe of Franklin and Skye (Scott) McManus of Austin, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Mierin Cooper McManus of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband; and daughter, Leann Jane Axe.
She was a 1949 graduate from Lyons High School and was employed at Murphy’s in Linton. They ended up in Franklin where Loretta later worked as a pharmacy tech at Johnson Memorial Hospital, retiring after 25 years.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin and belonged to the Franklin Adult Active Center.
As an original member of Crescent St. new block (you know if you lived there) she, as did all mothers there, fed, dressed, cut hair, chased and managed all the kids they could. Thanks to all those moms — you all helped!
A private family memorial will be held.
