Boys basketball

Rebels rout Beech Grove

Christian Stewart had 27 points and Collin Sonderman added 20 to help lead Roncalli to a 72-50 win against Beech Grove in Marion County tournament action on Wednesday.

The Rebels (10-2) advance to Friday’s semifinal round at Southport, where they will face off against Class 4A No. 17 Pike.

Trojans fall to Hamilton SE

Center Grove dropped its match against Hamilton Southeastern on Wednesday 48-22.

Alex Petro won by fall at 113 pounds for the Trojans (11-6), while Peyton Pruett and Gleason Mappes did the same at 126 and 160, respectively. Logan Coyle picked up Center Grove’s other four points with a major decision at 145 pounds.

Swimming & diving

Woodmen split with Cardinals

The Greenwood girls coasted to a 132-45 victory against Southport on Tuesday, while the boys suffered a narrow 97-82 defeat.

On the girls side, the Woodmen were led by Samantha Loudermilk and Bridget Lindstrom, who each won a pair of individual races and swam on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Loudermilk won the 100 butterfly and breaststroke, while Lindstrom took first in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Ashley Brown won the 200 freestyle and was on both winning freestyle relay teams, while Ellie Miller placed first in the 500 freestyle and was on the 200 medley and 400 freestyle teams. Jade Hensley was first in diving.

Caroline Marot, Alexandra Wilson, Kenna Waldschmidt and Olivia Franklin also swam relay legs to help pick up wins for Greenwood.

The boys got first-place finishes from Derek Gray (50 free), Patrick Kear (100 backstroke) and Joey Mooshian (diving).
