GCA comes out on top

Greenwood Christian defeated Indianapolis International, 63-55. Offensively, Quentin Steele led the way with 19 points, while Payton Modlin followed close behind with 18.

The Cougars (3-8) have won two in a row.

Roncalli advances to quarterfinals

The Marion County tournament kicked off Tuesday, and Roncalli started off strong by taking down Perry Meridian 69-61 to advance in the tournament.

Kellen Schreiber led Roncalli’s offense with 19 points. Collin Sonderman followed behind with 14.

The Rebels (9-2) will play Beech Grove tonight in the quarterfinals.

Swimming & diving

Trojans overwhelm Pike

Both Center Grove swim teams came out on top versus Pike on Tuesday. The boys took home a 138-47 victory, while the girls rolled, 134-51.

For the boys, Noah Tallman led the way with two solo victories in the 50 and 100 freestyles. He also joined Vrushabh Ulhuskamur, Alex Feitl and Adam Morrow on the winning 200 medley relay.

Tallman, Feitl, Valde and Raiden Finchum took top honors in the 400 freestyle relay as well, while Finchum, Ulhuskumar, Valde, and Adam Morrow took the 200 free relay.

Feitl also had a victory in the 500 freestyle for the Trojan boys, who also got wins from Anthony Gipson in the 200 individual medley, Ethan Beaumont in the 100 butterfly, Brady Ferguson in the 100 backstroke and Andrew McDaniel in the 100 breaststroke.

The girls started off the night with a victory in the 200 medley relay from the team of Jillian Castor, Caitlin Hubbs, Lexi Wallman and Jaden King. Castor had a big night, taking top honors in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, as did King, who came up with victories in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

King, along with Jules Lawson, Gracie Marsh and Allison Conklin, also had a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Marsh, Lawson, Sofia Krasutsky, and Kendall Shoemaker came out on top in the 200 freestyle relay. Other first-place finishes went to Krasutsky in the 100 breaststroke, Emma Pawlik in the 200 individual medley and Elena DeLuna in the 100 freestyle.
