Robert L. Roberts, 86, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at his residence in Greenwood. 

Born July 5, 1930, in Indianapolis to the late James H. and Mary E. (Schmitt) Roberts. Bob attended Ben Davis High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a longtime member of Saints Francis & Clare Catholic Church, the Iron Workers Union Local 22 and the Greenwood American Legion.

Bob was an avid golfer, he cherished time with his family and enjoyed telling his lifetime stories. He also enjoyed yard work and helping others.

Survivors include two children, Bill (Cheryl) Roberts, Regina (Michael) Sublette; three grandchildren, Damon and Lacie Roberts and Matthew Westerfield; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Roberts, Trevor, Scott and Anthony Roberts; and brother, James (Mary Jo) Roberts and lifetime friend, Susie Strube.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marcella Roberts, in 2013; and siblings, Harold Roberts, William Roberts, Donald Roberts, Bernard Roberts, Russell Roberts, Marjorie Moore and Mary Wise.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Saints Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 W. Olive Branch Road, Greenwood, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
