FRANKLIN
Letia Faye (Summers) Mason, 68, of Franklin, passed away Saturday Jan. 7, 2017, in Franklin.
Letia was born Jan. 29, 1948, in Liberty, Kentucky, to James Hubert Summers and Marie Rodgers.
Letia graduated from Brown County High School, class of 1966.
She married Jackie Mason on Sept. 30, 1966. They were married for 50 years.
She was employed with Helen’s Beauty Shop from 1970 to 2006, for 36 years, then at Classique Hair Styling for the next 10 years.
She also worked part time from 1998 to 2008 for R&L Cabinet Company in Trafalgar.
Letia enjoyed cooking, collecting dolls and helping others. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jackie Mason of Franklin; her daughter, Lea Brummett of Martinsville; two sisters, Betty Haney of Florida and Brenda Gator of Sellersburg; three brothers, Travis Summers of Morgantown, Dayton Summers of Vermont, and Junior Summers of Columbus; step-brother, Jim Lothery of Sellersburg; five grandchildren, Amanda Hammonds, Derek Brummett, Trever Brummett, Karah Mason and Shane Mason; and three great-grandchildren.
Letia was preceded in death by her parents, James Summers and Marie Rodgers and step mother, Frankie Summers; son, Gregory Allen Mason; brother, Richard Allen Summers, and sister, Eldia Owensby.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Youngs Creek Cemetery near Franklin.
