No injuries in train-vehicle accident

No one was injured when a county plow truck was struck by a train near Trafalgar.

The accident happened just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday at a railroad crossing on County Road 300S, near County Road 350W, just north of Trafalgar.

The county plow truck driver, Seth J. Johnson, 35, of Edinburgh, told deputies he stopped at the stop sign at the crossing, looked both ways and thought it was clear when he crossed. He then heard the train’s horn and tried to speed up to avoid being hit, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

The train clipped the back end of the truck, the report said.

The train conductor said he was unable to stop, the report said.

No one was injured, and both the train and the truck were driven away from the accident scene, the report said.
