Man faces charges of strangulation, battery

A man was arrested after his girlfriend went to the hospital to be treated for injuries after a fight at a Franklin apartment, police said.

Cornelius Eric Wilson II, 26, 141 Ceejay Drive, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of strangulation and domestic battery.

Wilson’s girlfriend went to Johnson Memorial Health around noon Thursday to be treated for injuries. She told police she and Wilson had argued when she found him at a friend’s house early that morning and that he had grabbed her by the neck, pushed her on the bed and choked her, according to the Franklin Police Department report.

Once Wilson let go, she grabbed her child and left the home in Franklin Cove Apartments and went to a friend’s house. She later went to the hospital, the report said.

Police spoke with Wilson who said the two had argued and he pushed her. He later said he may have choked her since tempers were flared due to the argument, the report said.

Wilson was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $2,400 bond.
