Nancy C. Johnson

SACRAMENTO, Calif.

Nancy C. Johnson, 82, passed away with family at her bedside Friday Dec. 16, 2016, at Aegis of Carmichael.

She was born July 10, 1934, in Franklin, the daughter of Harold H. Vandivier and Pauline Park Vandivier.

Nancy graduated from Union Township High School in 1952.

Nancy had a successful modeling career while she worked at the California State Legislature; her last (and favorite) position was working for Sen. Nicholas Petris.

Nancy married Eppie Johnson in 1958.

She became very involved in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Sacramento, volunteering in the Sunday School and later singing in the choir.

Nancy also spent many years as a Pink Lady volunteer at Mercy Hospital on J Street.

She was instrumental in the development of Eppie’s Great Race, the World’s Oldest Triathlon, where she also ran the t-shirt booth.

She is survived by her children, Lisa (Ben) Mangels of Lafayette, California and George (Molly) Johnson of Sacramento, California; four grandchildren, Alex Mangels, Claire Mangels, Athena Johnson and EJ Johnson; her sister Linda Vandivier Cummings of Jeffersonville; and her sister-in-law, Jane Vandivier of Columbus.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, David Vandivier.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Choir, 616 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95816 where she spent many happy times doing what she loved.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aegis of Carmichael for their wonderful care and compassion for Nancy during her 10-plus years at the facility.
