Helene Victorine Orr

Helene Victorine Orr, age 91, of Greenwood, passed away at Greenwood Village South on Saturday evening, Dec. 31, 2016.

Helene was born on Oct. 3, 1925 in Bruxelles, Belgium to Georges Victor Pinchart and Julia Desmedt Pinchart.

She graduated from The University of Liege in Belgium.

In 1945, she married the love of her life in France, Ralph Edward Orr.

During the height of World War II, the home she lived in was destroyed. They moved to the United States where she later became a naturalized citizen in 1954.

Helene worked as a model for Gimbles of New York in Vincennes a brief time before becoming a teacher at Illinois City schools. When she moved to Indianapolis, she taught at The International School in downtown Indianapolis and worked as a private French tutor to business professionals at Eli Lilly and Riley Hospital.

She had a great love for classical music and attended The Indianapolis Symphony on a regular basis. Helene was an avid reader and had a great love for traveling, gardening and visiting museums.

Survivors include her daughter, Janine Helene Orr of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents; and her brother.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. Entombment will take place at West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis immediately following the service. The family will be accepting guests from noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
