Joseph L. Robison

WEST LAFAYETTE

Joseph L. Robison, age 87, passed away Dec. 21, 2016, at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette.

He was the son of Ivan J. Robison and Nina Banta Robison. He was born on Nov. 26, 1929.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris “Dee” Stoughton.

He is survived by his sister, Miriam Fae Lusk of Danville, Illinois and a brother, Austin H. Robison of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Joe attended grade school at Clark Township in Johnson County and graduated from Boggstown High School. During high school, he served as student manager of the basketball team. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. He worked several jobs as a truck deliveryman then retired from the Indiana State Highway Department after 25 years.

Joe attended Bengal Christian Church for many years and received a certificate for serving as an Elder. He was also an avid race car fan. He loved going to qualifications and races at the Indy 500 and also watching NASCAR races.

Joe lived at the Veterans Home from 2000 to 2016 and had many friends there. A special thank you to all who cared for him there and also the Guardian Angel Hospice.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Cremation – Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., with a graveside service at noon at Greenwood Cemetery.
