Maurice Richard Cline, 78, Franklin, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016.

He was born on June 5, 1938 in Cloverdale, to the late Maurice and Julie Jean Cline.

Richard worked at Ford Motor Co., running a Lamb for 42 years.

He was a devoted husband and was married to Betty Jo for 29 years.

He loved being with his daughter and grandchildren, usually asking for fried potatoes for dinner.

He was an avid NASCAR fan always rooting for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Richard was a bowler in his younger days and a fan of IU, the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers.

While enjoying his favorite team he could be found with one of his many cats, Thomas being his favorite.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Cline; daughter, Jamie Marie Hier of Franklin; brother, Donald; grandchildren, Christa Kindsvatter, Bruce and Brooke Pleak; and great-grandchild, Laila.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roy and Robert.

Family and friends will gather from 4 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 5 at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A family gathering will conclude with a meal at Denny’s following the visitation.
