3 injured in Franklin crash

Three people were taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital after a three-car crash on U.S. 31 Tuesday afternoon.

William McConnel, 72, of Franklin, was driving north on U.S. 31 in the right lane at about 12:50 p.m. when he hit a pickup truck driven by Robert Tearman, 64, of Trafalgar, that was stopped at the Mallory Parkway intersection. Tearman’s truck then struck a car stopped in front of him driven by William Peters, 76, of Franklin, a Franklin Police Department report said.

Tearman and two of Peters’ passengers, Amanda Baker, 26, of Franklin, and Aniya Humphrey, 8, of Franklin, were taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to the Franklin Fire Department. Tearman complained of back pain, Baker complained of head pain and Humphrey complained of neck pain, the report said.

Information on their conditions wasn’t available from Johnson Memorial Hospital on Thursday.

McConnel told officers that problems with his vision prevented him from seeing the stopped cars until it was too late, the report said.
