Jonathan Russell Rogers

FRANKLIN

Jonathan Russell Rogers, 58, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at his daughters’ residence in Zionsville. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on March 28, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio, to Jesse Rogers and Vivian (Shearer) Rogers.

He is survived by one son, Josh (Lara) Rogers of Franklin, and one daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Byrum of Zionsville; four grandchildren, Elliott and Eleanor Rogers of Franklin and Brooks and Davis Byrum of Zionsville. Also surviving are four brothers, Alan Rogers, Brian Rogers, Kevin Rogers and Kenny Rudy.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; step-mother, Doris Rogers, and step-father, Elmo Rudy.

Jon was a 1976 graduate of Eaton High School.

He was a self-made entrepreneur. He had been employed by Preble County Bank and Franklin Bank and later owned DFS Capital Funding.

He was a member of the Optimist Club of Eaton, Ohio. He enjoyed volunteering with the Community Outreach/Service and also with Special Olympics. He was a professional Santa and portrayed Batman for the Franklin Fire Department.

A celebration of Jon’s life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call  from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 2 p.m. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
