FRANKLIN

Roy William “Chuck” Lanham Jr., 82, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at his residence.

He was born June 28, 1934, in Indianapolis, to Roy William Lanham Sr. and Ruth (Petty) Lanham. He married Lois F. (Neff) Lanham on Aug. 23, 1972, in Indianapolis. She survives.

He had been a pipefitter for Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local No. 440 in Indianapolis for 60 years, having worked not only in the United States, but also Europe. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served in Saigon where he served as a pipefitter.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, going to Dale Hallow and coaching little league baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Lois F. (Neff) of Franklin; children, Deborah Peckinpaugh (Donald Bruce) of Franklin, Bonita Shanafelt Hively (Ronald) of Franklin, Jeffrey Lanham (Lori) of Franklin and Christopher Lanham (Latoya) of Franklin; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Lanham of Greenwood; and sisters, Pauline Combest of Westport and Joan Smith (Paul) of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister in-law, Ruth Lanham; and brother in-law, Joe Combest.

The Rev. Larry McAdams will conduct a service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin with full military honors.
