FRANKLIN
H. Terry Sanders, 76, Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, in Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 1, 1940, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Henry and Edna Mae (Efinger) Sanders. He married Mary Jo Berry on April 19, 1975, in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sanders of Franklin; one son, Frederic H. Sanders (Jennifer) of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Alex Sanders, Kyle Sanders, Emma Sanders, Bethany Crain and Joey Purdy; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Johnson and Holden Crain.
He was a graduate of Franklin College.
Terry and his wife, along with her father, Joseph, founded the Fire Adjustment Insurance Company. He also worked as a claim manager for Viking Insurance Company, vice president of Circle Consolidated Insurance Company, and several others over the years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Terry was a 43 year member of Millersville Masonic Lodge No. 126 F. & A.M., where he served as Worshipful Master in 1978. He was an active member in the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, serving as Commander-in-Chief 1992 to 94, and crowned a Thirty-third degree in October 1995. His other Masonic activity included St. James Conclave of Red Cross of Constantine, an active member of the Cast of Murat Shrine, York Rite, Order of the Eastern Star, and other appendent bodies.
He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Franklin.
Visitation hours will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. A funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers.
