Mary Ann (Ebbing) Wilkins

FRANKLIN

Mary Ann (Ebbing) Wilkins, age 83, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Dec. 5, 2016, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a longtime resident of Franklin.

Mary Ann was born Sept. 13, 1933, in New Blaine, Arkansas to the late Bernard and Caroline (Schulte) Ebbing.

She was a 1951 graduate of Marked Tree High School and later married Jackie L. Wilkins on Oct. 30, 1954, in Harrisburg, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2016, after 61 loving years of marriage.

After moving to Indiana, Mary Ann worked at Varynet Mills and later began working in the food service department at Webb Elementary. Mary Ann later worked for Bendix Corporation in Franklin.

She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Mary Ann’s joy in life came from spending time with her granddaughter and great-grandsons, tending to her flower garden and spending time with her dachshund, Barney. She also enjoyed boating, camping with her family and watching the Indianapolis Colts.

Mary Ann was a woman of many talents and taught herself to crochet and play the accordion.

Mary Ann will be missed by her son, Kenneth L. (wife, Ruth) Wilkins of Franklin; granddaughter, Cassandra “Cassie” Wilkins of Indianapolis; great-grandsons, Brayden and Dominic Wilkins, both of Indianapolis; her loving caregiving sister, Joan Shaw of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Stanley D. and Dennis P. Wilkins; and siblings, Doris Thomasson and Bernard Ebbing Jr.

Father Steven Schaftlein will conduct a Funeral Mass at noon Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Ave., Franklin. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
