Boys basketball

Center Grove defeats Bloomington North

The Trojans came out on top against Bloomington North on Saturday, 74-60. The offensive attack was led by Spencer Piercefield’s 19 points and Travis Roehling’s 15. Nate McClain also contributed to the victory by scoring 12.

Grizzly Cubs top Seymour

Franklin defeated Seymour on Saturday, 66-42. The victory puts the Grizzly Cubs at 1-1 on the season.

Edgewood too much for Greenwood Christian

The Cougars were defeated by Edgewood on Saturday, 55-36. Peyton Modlin led the offense with 12 points, followed by Quentin Steele with 10. The loss places GCA at 0-4.

Braves fall to Oldenburg

Oldenburg handed Indian Creek its first loss of the season on Saturday, 61-50. The Braves fall to 2-1.

Edinburgh downed by Waldron

The Lancers came up short against Waldron, 65-59. The loss lowers their record to 0-4 on the season. They hope to achieve their first win of the season against Triton Central on Friday.

Girls basketball

Franklin routs Decatur Central

The Grizzly Cubs held on to defeat Decatur Central Saturday, 53-47. The win brings Franklin to 5-5.

Greenwood bows to Martinsville

Martinsville came away with a 75-55 victory against Greenwood on Saturday. The Woodmen fall to 3-8 with the loss.

Leah Moore led the Woodmen with 12 points and six rebounds.

Indian Creek topped by Covenant Christian

The Braves fell to Covenant Christian on Saturday, 63-35. Their record lowers to 2-8.

Wrestling

Trojans finish 3-2

Center Grove came up with a final record of 3-2 at the Bloomington North tournament on Saturday. The Trojans had victories against Bloomington North (43-30), Martinsville (61-15), and Columbus North (43-21). They finished out the day coming up short against Bloomington South (43-33) and Lawrence North (35-22).

Logan Coyle and Gleason Mappes led the way for the Trojans, both winning all five of their matches. Jonah Hays and Peyton Pruett also came up with positive records,  both ending the night 4-1.

Indian Creek sweeps Super 8

The Braves won all five of their matches in the Super 8 tournament at Greenwood. Their victories came against Mooresville 41-27, Decatur Central 72-10, Homestead 38-27, Greenwood 43-21 and Plainfield 42-30. The sweep was led by Owen Sego, Alex Mosconi, Bradley Trietsch, Tony Mosconi, Joe Clevenger, and Grant Goforth, who all went 5-0 on the night.

Warriors take two matches

Whiteland won two of its five matches Saturday at the New Castle Invitational, defeating Fort Wayne South and Indianapolis Lutheran. The Warriors are now 2-5 on the season.

Kobe King (126 pounds) and Marcus Havens (220 pounds) both posted 5-0 records, while Garrett Curtis was 3-0 at 285 pounds and Aaron Adkins went 4-1 at 113.

Roncalli comes up big

The Rebels finished 4-1 in the Shamrock Duals at Westfield High School on Saturday. Roncalli came out on top against Terre Haute South 62-15, Princeton 53-21, Fishers 53-9, and Westfield 38-23. Its lone loss came against Zionsville 36-30.

Swimming & diving

Trojan girls top Columbus North; boys lose

Center Grove went even against Columbus North on Saturday. The girls took home a 97-86 victory, while the boys were defeated by a final score of 115-68.

Franklin College

Mens basketball falls to Defiance in 2OT

Defiance College held on to defeat Franklin in double overtime 94-93 on Saturday. With the loss, the Grizzlies fall to 2-3 overall, 0-1 in the HCAC.

The offense was led by Aaron Mann with 29 points and 13 rebounds and John Beineke with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Robbie Prather followed behind with 17 points.

Womens basketball rolls past Defiance

The Grizzlies defeated Defiance College 69-57 on Saturday. The victory brings Franklin to 3-3 on the season.

Lauren DeSutter led the offense with 16 points and five rebounds, while Riley Achenbach had 12 points. Sarah Taylor added 11 points with five rebounds. Emily Alfrey had three assists.

Fleet named All-American

Franklin women’s soccer player Maddie Fleet added another to her collection of postseason honors when she was named as a third-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
