Man frauds $1,000 from credit union

A Franklin credit union gave out $1,000 to a man impersonating a customer.

A man pretending to be a customer of the California-based Evangelical Christian Credit Union withdrew $1,000 on Thursday morning from the Crane Federal Credit Union branch, located at 2028 U.S. 31 North in Franklin, a Franklin Police Department report said.

The credit union branch manager told police the man had shown all the correct identification, including an Ohio driver’s license, that was needed to make the withdrawal, the report said.

A representative of the Evangelical Christian Credit Union told police that multiple people were attempting to make cash withdrawals from one of their clients at credit unions across the country, the report said.
