Death investigation underway

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the death of a man found deceased in a Center Grove area home.

Police were called to the home in the Stone Village neighborhood, off Stones Crossing Road, just west of State Road 135, after a woman found her adult son on the floor in a pool of blood, Sheriff Doug Cox said.

The woman initially thought her son, who is in his 50s, had a medical issue. Deputies found the man in a large amount of blood and then called for a search warrant to search the home, Cox said.

Police are not yet releasing the name of the man who died and are unsure of what caused his death, Cox said.

The Johnson County Coroner is involved in the investigation, and an autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death, Cox said.

The mother found the garage door open and the door leading into the house slightly ajar on Friday morning, Cox said. The home is located in the 2900 block of Cadogan Drive.

Investigators know the man was not home overnight Thursday and had spent the evening with others, Cox said.

On Friday afternoon, they were trying to track down the last person the man had contact with, he said.
