Hiram J. Hash

Hiram J. Hash, 93, Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the Franklin Masonic Home.

Hiram was born on June 22, 1923, in Sugar Grove, Smyth County, Virginia, the youngest child of Hiram A. and Dema (Oakley) Hash.

Hiram graduated from Southport High School in 1941, and married the love of his life, Marylin Fishel, on Jan. 9, 1942.

He served in the military briefly during World War II, until receiving an honorable medical discharge.

Hiram owned his own business for 40 years, and upon retirement helped his son Rick at Glenns Valley Feed & Garden for many years.

Hiram was a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and Mount Pleasant Christian Church.

Over his long life, he enjoyed boating, landscaping, coin collecting and helping others.

Hiram was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marylin; five siblings; a half-brother; son, Larry; and son-in-law, Hugh Baker.

He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Baker; son Rick (Kathleen) Hash; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Morgantown Road, Greenwood.
