Carl Elmo Greenwood, 81, of Greenwood, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016.

He was born July 29, 1935, in Oden, to Estel and Alice (Ayers) Greenwood.

He married Mary Margaret Barnard on Feb. 18, 1956, at Fletcher Place United Methodist Church in Indianapolis; she survives.

He had been a pipe fitter for Chrysler Corporation from 1967 until retiring on March 31, 1998, from the New Castle plant in Indiana. He owned and operated Elmo’s Plumbing for many years.

He was a member of the Greenwood Wesleyan Church.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Margaret of Greenwood; and his children, Carl Greenwood (Debbie) of Kokomo, Mike Greenwood (Donna) of Greenfield, Carla “Susie” Hughes (Jim) of Greenwood, Cathy Groce (Terry) of New Castle and Keith Greenwood (Donna) of Beckley, West Virginia. He is also survived by his brother, William Jenkins (Mary) of Indianapolis, and four sisters, Margaret Autry of Indianapolis, Donna Barnard (Joe) of Salem, Mary Tarter (Roy) of Indianapolis and Betty Johnson (Tim) of Indianapolis; as well as 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Estel Elmo Greenwood, mother, Alice (Ayers) Greenwood Jenkins; stepfather, William Clarence Jenkins; infant sister, Daisy Jenkins; and brother-in-law, James Autry.

The Revs. James Hughes and Albert Hendershot will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Monday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary and 10 a.m. until the service time on Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
