BARGERSVILLE
Richard Oral Sledge Sr., 74, of Bargersville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
He was born July 26, 1942, in Bargersville, to Oral Hensley Sledge and Sadie Florence (Walker) Sledge.
He was a 1960 graduate of Union Township schools.
He had been an electrician for Bargersville Utilities for 39 years and also had worked several years with Duke Straley.
Survivors include his sons, Richard O. Sledge Jr. of Bargersville, Ronnie Hensley Sledge (Edith) of Franklin, Lanny Joseph Sledge (Angela) of Greenwood, Rory Thomas Sledge (Renata) of O’Fallon, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Scott Sledge of Greenwood, Amanda Vogel (Jared) of Willard, Ohio, Destiny Sledge of Franklin, Matthew Sledge and Brooke Sledge, both of Indianapolis, Zander Sledge and Estella Sledge, both of Greenwood, Clara Sledge of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Justin Fox and Zach King, both of Franklin; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley June Cramer (Bill) of Bargersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Jimmy Sledge; and two sisters, Alice Jeanette Bryant and Mary Louise Shoffner.
The Rev. Roger Gifford will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the service time on Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery near Spearsville.
