Margaret R. Acher

FRANKLIN

Margaret R. Acher, 81, of Franklin, died on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, in Franklin.

She was born July 4, 1935, in Franklin, to her parents, Howard and Lillian (Henderson) Rice.

She attended Franklin College and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, later serving as a chapter adviser. She was married to James R. Acher, of Franklin, who preceded her in death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her elder brother, Larry Rice, the same year.

Margaret and Jim had two children and are survived by, Kurt (Griselda) Acher of Carmel and Virginia (Kevin) Myers of Lafayette. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Charles (Christina) Myers and Suzanne Myers, and one great-grandchild, Johnathan Myers.

Margaret was a member of the DAR and the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin. She had a wide circle of friends, with whom she loved spending time. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to two different bridge clubs. She also loved sports, cheering on the Colts, the Pacers, the IU teams, and her favorite NASCAR drivers.

The family is conducting a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 100 E Madison St., Franklin. The family will be receiving friends and family from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin.
