Theodore E. Cutrell

GREENWOOD

The Rev. Theodore E. Cutrell, 71, of Greenwood, succumbed to ALS and peacefully went to join his heavenly Father on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016.

Ted is survived by his wife of 48 years, Harleen; sons, Shaun (Donna) Cutrell and Brandon (Rob) Cutrell; mother, Norma Cutrell; father-in-law, Edward Bennett; brothers, James Cutrell and Robert (Judy) Moffat, sisters, Cheryl Rexrode and Lisa (Robert) Shank; and twin grandsons, Bennett and Nolan Cutrell.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Cutrell, mother, Goldie Lutes; stepfather, Walter Lutes; mother-in-law, Carolyn Bennett; and twin brother, Frederick Cutrell.

He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, friend and pastor to all.

Ted graduated from Columbus High School in 1964. He continued his education and earned degrees from Greenville College and Asbury Theological Seminary. After earning his Master of Divinity, he pastored at Mount Vernon Free Methodist Church (Mount Vernon, two years), Newton Free Methodist Church (Newton, Illinois; two years), First Free Methodist Church (Lafayette, nine years), East Columbus United Methodist Church (Columbus, seven years) and Christ United Methodist Church (Indianapolis, 24 years).

He loved movies, books, forensics, Lifetime TV, VW Beetles, the Colts, the Purdue Boilermakers, fish sandwiches and, perhaps more than anything, his grandchildren.

Most importantly, he taught everyone he met how to truly love others.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood. Ted’s favorite color was red, so the family asks attendees to wear something red to help celebrate.

Memorial donations can be made in Ted’s name to The ALS Association Indiana Chapter or to the Mount Auburn United Methodist Church Preschool.
