Two card skimmers found at gas station

Police found two card skimmers at a downtown Franklin gas station.

Just after noon on Friday, a technician was called to check why the card readers on the pumps were not working properly at the Phillips 66 gas station, located 400 E. Jefferson St.

The technician found skimmers on two pumps, and the gas station called police, according to the Franklin Police Department report.

The devices were behind the access panels on the pumps and plugged into the card readers. They also were screwed in, making them appear to be a standard part of the pumps, the report said.

Police collected the devices as evidence and are planning to review surveillance video from the gas station, the report said.
