George M. Utterback

ELWOOD

George M. Utterback, 100, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a resident of Elwood and former longtime resident of Johnson County.

He was born on July 5, 1916, in Johnson County to Edward and Allie (Sedam) Utterback. He married Dorothy (Slevin) Utterback in April, 1938. She preceded him in passing on Feb. 7, 2011.

He is survived by son, Ron (Nancy Mills) Utterback of Frankton; grandsons, Curt (Paige) Richardson and Ray (Tammy) Caldwell and great-grandchildren, Connor, Cagney and Reid Utterback. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Dorothy and four brothers, Ernest, Earl, Edgar “Dutch” and Noble Utterback.

George was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps., serving during World War II.

He owned a Sawmill Operation in Johnson County and later had a laying hen operation.

He was the oldest member of First Christian Church of Bargersville. He enjoyed woodworking, specializing in grandfather clocks.

A celebration of George’s life will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Bargersville, 101 East Street, Bargersville, IN 46106.
