Pharmacy worker arrested after pills stolen

A Greenwood pharmacy worker was arrested after prescription pills were stolen, police say.

Samantha D. Beaver, 27, 8865 Chessie Drive, Indianapolis, was arrested on a charge of theft.

Police were called to CVS Pharmacy on State Road 135 just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. A manager wanted to report that an employee had taken prescription medications from the store, according to the police report.

Customers had been calling the pharmacy saying their order was short of the number of pills they had been prescribed. Store officials suspect the thefts began in May, the report said.

Store officials reviewed surveillance video, which showed Beaver hiding behind counters and putting pills in her socks, the report said.

The store estimated at least 1,281 pills had been taken, with a value of $875, the report said. The store is doing an audit of the number of pills missing, the report said.

Beaver told police she had taken the pills for her own personal use, the report said.

She was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where she was released on $1,200 bond.
