Halloween concerts

Greenwood Community High School’s auditorium will transform with music, dancing, and special effects in a concert by the Greater Greeenwood Community Band, starting at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Under the direction of Tom Dirks, Ora Pemberton, and Henry Buckingham the band will play a collection of haunting Halloween musical arrangements including “The Monster Under the Bed,” “Toccata and Fugue,” “Tunes that Go Bump in the Night,” “A Rockin’ Halloween,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Thriller” and more.

The concert experience is complete with the ambiance of lights, fog and special guests on a decorated stage with musicians and dancers in full costume. Audience members are invited to wear costume, take a free mask at the door or simply be themselves while enjoying the show.

First Presbyterian Church in Franklin will host a concert the same day in the afternoon — 3 p.m. Oct. 30 — featuring expert organists.

Kids can collect some treats at the event, and complete a craft activity. Performers will be Colin Andrews, director of music at the church, and Nara Lee, an organist at Tabernacle Christian Church.

The church is at 100 E. Madison St., Franklin.
