Two arrested on charges of domestic violence

A Greenwood couple was arrested on a charge of domestic battery after a dispute Sunday evening.

Amy Steele, 27, and Walt Price, 40, face a charge of domestic battery after each told officers that they were the victim of domestic violence, a Johnson County Sheriff Office’s report said.

Price told officers that Steele had become upset and began to break items around the house after he refused to get prescription drugs for her. He told officers that Steele attacked him after he attempted to leave the house, the report said.

Steele told officers she was under house arrested and had attempted to call 911 because Price was drinking and she wasn’t allowed to be around alcohol. She told police that they fought over the cellphone and Price broke items around the house, threatened to beat her and retrieved a loaded gun and threatened to shoot himself, the report said.

Steele told officers that Price had thrown her against the wall and the floor before she was able to get free and go to a neighbor’s house, the report said.

Steele and Price, both of 393 Kimbrough Drive, were arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. Steele was held on a $2,000 bond. Price was not required to post bond.
