Police investigating accident involving teen

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident that injured a Columbus teen.

Just after 3 a.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office was called to an accident on U.S. 31, at County Road 550E near Edinburgh.

The 17-year-old driver, who police did not identify, told police she did not know how she crashed, according to the report from the sheriff’s office.

Investigators found skid marks showing the vehicle went off the west side of the road, swerved across the road and hit an embankment, the report said.

The teen involved in the crash complained of head pain and was taken to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the cause of the crash, Sheriff Doug Cox said in an email.
