Two arrested after police find heroin, spice

Two people were arrested this week after police searched an Edinburgh apartment where children also lived and found suspected heroin and spice, police said.

Michael W. Burton, 52, and Angela N. Tidwell, 35, 502 Lincoln St., Apt. 3, Edinburgh, were both arrested on multiple drug charges. Burton and Tidwell were arrested on charges of dealing and possession of a synthetic drug, child neglect, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance.

Police got a search warrant for the apartment and found baggies that contained heroin, smoking devices, marijuana, empty packets of spice and 17 packages of unused spice in a lock box, according to a Franklin police report. Burton, a 14-year-old boy and a 3-year-old child were home when police arrived on Tuesday evening, the report said.

Police interviewed Burton and Tidwell. He told a detective that they might find spice in the home, but it was not his. Tidwell told an officer that she smokes spice, but does not sell it, the report said.
