Second theft at Meijer construction site

Copper wire, a generator and tools were stolen when two storage trailers were broken into at a construction site in Franklin.

The theft happened overnight Oct. 11 at the Meijer construction site, off U.S. 31 and Commerce Drive. One trailer had its padlock cut. The other was cut open using a gas acetylene torch at the work site, according to a Franklin Police Department report.

The stolen items included seven spools of cooper wire, a power generator, saw and extensions cords. Other items were left behind in the trailers, the report said.

This is the second reported theft from the construction site within the last month. Multiple storage lockers were broken into at the beginning of October with copper wire and fitting, propane tanks and several other items stolen.
